SCA Conference: Wildwood Daze!

To celebrate the founding of the Society for Commercial Archeology in 1977, we're throwing a 35th Anniversary celebration at the location of the largest concentration of mid-century resort architecture in the United States: Wildwood, New Jersey! Mark your calendars for the 2012 SCA Conference, "Wildwood Daze", to be held September 26-29, 2012.

The conference will highlight transportation's impact in the growth of tourism in coastal New Jersey. Two tours will explore famous transportation routes including the New Jersey Coastal Heritage Trail, the Pinelands Heritage Trail, the Blackhorse and Whitehorse Pikes, and the Bayshore Heritage Byway. These excursions will allow attendees to compare and contrast cultural landscapes from the mid-century or "Doo Wop" resort era to that of the "Nation's Oldest Seashore Resort" of Cape May. SCA members will also explore Atlantic City including the iconic Lucy the Margate Elephant, which recently celebrated her 130th birthday, and explore commercial ruins within America's first National Reserve, the New Jersey Pinelands.

Don't miss this opportunity to see the best of Southern New Jersey's man-made commercial landscapes and significant natural wonders, see your old SCA friends and make a few new ones!
